Policy
At our company, the health and safety of our employees comes first. The owners and management are committed to ensuring that employees work in a safe manner, that injuries are prevented, and that a healthy work environment is maintained.
The company has a workplace safety and health program that includes providing regular information to employees about workplace safety and health issues, using internal communication such as training sessions, team meetings, bulletin board postings and the Electrical and Mechanical Trades Safety Handbook. The Safety & Health Committee is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of our program and making recommendations for continued improvement for the safety and health of all our employees.
All employees are required to support the workplace safety and health program, obey safety rules and exercise caution and common sense in all work activities. Employees must immediately report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor. Employees who violate safety standards, cause hazardous or dangerous situations, or fail to report or where appropriate, may be subject to disciplinary actions including termination of employment. Managers are responsible for enhancing safety and health awareness.
In the case of an accident that results in injury, regardless of how insignificant the injury may appear, employees should notify their supervisor immediately. Make sure to note the time and date of the injury, as that information is required to file a claim under Workers Compensation. If you are injured on the job, but not at Mikkelsen Coward facilities, notify the senior field staff on site. A green card must be filled in for every workplace injury, regardless if time is lost or medical attention is sought.
A copy of this safety policy is provided to all new employees and is posted on company bulletin boards.
